The countdown has officially begun. On Sunday, July 5, 2026, the Granfondo Gavia e Mortirolo will once again set the hearts of cycling enthusiasts across Europe ablaze. The event organized by GS Alpi has been moved up by one week from its traditional late-June date: a strategic decision born of the deep synergy between the organizing committee led by President Vittorio Mevio and the Pontedilegno-Tonale Consortium, which has confirmed Ponte di Legno as the event’s headquarters and perfect logistical base.
Making the 2026 edition even more exclusive will be the prestigious official gift included in the race pack for all participants: a high-end technical vest created in collaboration with VeloPlus. The Lombardy-based company, a leader in the field of custom cycling apparel, has been a trusted partner of GS Alpi for many years. The garment was designed specifically for the needs of Granfondo riders tackling major Alpine climbs, ensuring wind protection on descents, maximum breathability, and an eye-catching design that will celebrate the legendary peaks of the Camonica Valley.
A week of great cycling: the “Passi Mitici” are coming
The Granfondo on Sunday, July 5, will be the culmination of a much broader regional project. Thanks to the support of the Pontedilegno-Tonale Consortium and the initiative promoted by the Department of Sports and Tourism of the Valle Camonica Mountain Community, from June 30 to July 5, “Passi Mitici” will take place.
A week entirely dedicated to cycling tourism and the gentle enjoyment of the region, during which some of Italy’s most famous climbs will be completely closed to motorized traffic, for the exclusive use of cyclists and without the need for registration:
- June 30: Passo del Vivione
- July 2: Montecampione
- July 5: Passo Gavia and Passo Mortirolo (as part of the Granfondo)
Not just roads: make way for the Gravel Experience
The weekend’s offerings are also enhanced for off-road enthusiasts with the Gravel Experience Gavia–Mortirolo 2026 (available as a two-day or single-day option over the weekend). A guided adventure led by two professional guides that will take cyclists from Ponte di Legno to the ridges of Mortirolo along dirt roads and breathtaking views, with the option to spend the night at high altitude in a hotel or tent.
The Three Routes of the Granfondo
On Sunday, July 5, the focus will shift entirely to the stopwatch with the Granfondo’s three historic routes:
- Long Route (141 km): Double climb of the Gavia Pass and the legendary Mortirolo Pass from the Mazzo di Valtellina side.
- Medium Route (110 km): Ascent of the Gavia and climb up the Mortirolo from the Grosio side.
- Short Route (45 km): Ascent of the Gavia with a finish at the summit and return to Ponte di Legno off-course.
Registration for the Granfondo and the Gravel Experience is now open. To secure your race number and the exclusive VeloPlus technical vest, please check the details on the official channels.
