GS Alpi, the organizing committee of the Granfondo Gavia e Mortirolo, announces that the 2026 edition of the race will take place on July 5, one week earlier than usual, when the race was traditionally held at the end of June.
The decision to move the Granfondo Gavia e Mortirolo forward by one week stems from the great synergy between the organizing committee and the Pontedilegno-Tonale Tourist Consortium, which welcomed the granfondo with open arms this year. Ponte di Legno proved to be a perfect logistical base, and it was possible to involve numerous cyclists from all over Europe.
Vittorio Mevio, president of GS Alpi, explains that the project involving Granfondo Gavia e Mortirolo is very broad. “Together with the Pontedilegno-Tonale Tourist Consortium, we are developing a project aimed at promoting the area, which is perfect for anyone who loves cycling. The goal will be to prepare tourist packages to allow cyclists and families to spend a vacation during the Gavia and Mortirolo days, making all the climbs around Ponte di Legno accessible for a week. During our race, it will be possible to cycle on the Gavia and Mortirolo passes on roads that will be completely closed to traffic for four hours. On other days, it will be possible to cycle on other climbs in Valcamonica and beyond, again on roads that will be completely closed to traffic. The project is still being finalized”.
