On Sunday 22 June, for the first time in the history of the race, the start and finish of the Granfondo Gavia and Mortirolo will be held in Ponte di Legno, in the heart of the Alta Valle Camonica, thanks to the precious collaboration with the Pontedilegno Tonale Tourist Consortium.
There are three proposed routes, all immersed in the spectacular Alpine landscapes of Adamello and Gavia, with roads closed to traffic to ensure maximum safety. It will be a great celebration for all those who want to ride in Ponte di Legno, tackling two of the climbs where the history of the Giro d’Italia was written, the Gavia Pass and the Mortirolo. This year, Ponte di Legno will be crossed by the Corsa Rosa stage with the finish in Bormio, in one of the most challenging sections of the Giro.
The short route of the Granfondo Gavia and Mortirolo 2025 includes a total of 46 km, starting in Ponte di Legno and finishing uphill on the Gavia. For the purposes of the final ranking, only the time taken in the Gavia time trial will be considered, therefore the time that each cyclist will take from the beginning to the end of the climb. From the summit, it will then be possible to descend to Ponte di Legno in complete safety with the road closed to traffic.
The medium route measures 136 km. In this case, it will be a real race from the first kilometer. The cyclists will tackle the Gavia Pass, then descend to Bormio and Grosio, from where the Mortirolo climb will begin. From the summit of the pass, they will then descend to Monno and Vezza d’Oglio to return to Ponte di Legno.
Finally, the queen test of the Granfondo Gavia and Mortirolo 2025, the long route. A race for true climbers: here too, after the start, they climb towards the Gavia Pass, but the descent will take the riders to Mazzo di Valtellina, a location famous in the cycling world for indicating the start of the hardest side of the Mortirolo. At the top, cyclists will have covered 113 km: from there they descend to Monno and Vezza d’Oglio to arrive at Ponte di Legno. This route measures a total of 148 km.
